A Quick Note on Slovakia

A year ago we wouldn't have been able to place it on a map. We certainly wouldn't have described it the way we would today - mountainous and beautiful. Slovakia was a very pleasant surprise.

From the Tatra Mountains of Poland we crossed to the mountains of Slovakia. From Stary Smokovec we hiked north stopping at the Zamkovskeho Chalet. It reminded us of Switzerland with it's ornate wooden front and balcony. The mountain range here spans 27 kilometers, but unfortunately that isn't enough to give every tourist tat visits a retreat of his own in the wilderness. Our hike was along side a trail of others. But the views of the jagged rocky peaks ad glacial valleys through sunny skies were exactly what we needed after so many days of rain soaked roads and cities. Now we are psyched to get to Greece where more mountains await us.
