Visitor's Log Book - Sign Here
I'm looking around the dining area of the caravan park where we are staying. Everyone here has pen in hand and is scribbling away in a journal. John and I are the only ones pounding the keys of a computer.
So many other travelers look at us quizzically. So many have never been exposed to the marvels of technology. "What are you doing?" they ask. We've explained countless times that this 4" x 9" grey box is a computer. From the looks we get that is enough. We don't bother mentioning the web page let alone linking to a server in Boston. But some we meet on our travels are familiar with the magic that is changing the meaning of 'couch potato'. It is for them that we have printed up business cards (on paper, mind you, to conserve weight). We pass them out to those few individuals who pass our way who don't back away with their fingers fixed in a cross position, as if to ward off this instrument of the Devil.
Whether through direct contact or because our card was found blowing across
the tundra, we hope that some are enticed to log onto our web page. Or
perhaps log-on is a result of curiosity about two Americans who sign hut
visitor log books with an address:
(When one is on the road, one must promote by any available means.) Anyone out there?
