Those First Nights

Night Two in The Van
Black River at the top of Michigan became our home for night two in the camper. The state camp ground rests just off Black River Harbor on Lake Superior. It offered us a quiet resting spot and a short, much needed, hike to the first of several large waterfalls. It was well worth the 15 mile side trip we took to get there.
We took a post prandial walk to the harbor and crossed a wooden suspension bridge to the lake. The view of the beach, with its fire eaten driftwood was beautiful and we vowed never again to leave the camera behind. John marveled at how such a calm lake, with waves barely big enough to mark the shore, could have swallowed the Edmond Fitzgerald.
